To record...

My immediate goal is to scan and archive those family photos (several albums and hundreds of loose photos) and other documents (obituaries, death notices, etc.) that have come down to me through several generations.  I plan to put selected 100dpi jpeg images on the website (lugthart.org) and to archive all on CDs as 600dpi tiff images that will preserve most of the detail of the originals.

My proposed format for naming and cataloguing the documents/photos is to use the conventions I have devised for the web page.  The framework for the system is the Lugthart Family Tree as published here, and as periodically updated. I will also create a simple alphabetical index of names. [link to readme.html for naming conventions].

Another goal is to expand the Lugthart Family Tree using the family data that Willem Frederik Cornelis Lugthart had amassed, (with his permission and help).  My feeling is that the more of this data that is interlinked and made available, the more likely it is to survive the passage of generations.
